What information do we collect?
We do not collect names, home, business or email addresses, telephone numbers, or account information from
contacts that we receive through the Internet.
We get this information only if you provide it to us voluntarily through online transactions, email, registration forms, or surveys.
Our web server software automatically logs the following information each time someone visits our web site.
- Information Definition
- Date the visit occurred.
- Time the visit occurred.
- Client IP Unique Internet Protocol address of the website visitor. This will sometimes be masked by a proxy or other such equipment that connects the user to the Internet through their Internet Service Provider (ISP).
- HTTP Status Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) error code. E.g., "404 Requested Page Not Found."
- HTTP Request URL Identifies the web page or file requested by the website visitor
- Bytes Sent Amount of data sent from the web server to website visitor during that connection.
- Bytes Received Amount of data sent from website visitor to the web server.
- Protocol Version Version of HTTP used by the visitor's web browser software.
Information gathered from SBDC forms on this site, is used to process your online request. Other uses include carrying out the purposes of specified statutes. We do NOT sell or share personal data to advertisers or marketers for advertising or direct marketing purposes. Most information acquired by the SBDC is subject to public inspection. Other statutes, regulations or laws governing subpoenas, discovery for litigation, Public Records Act requests, and commercial requestor requester accounts also apply to information gathered at this website. However, various provisions of law do prohibit or restrict the disclosure of certain electronically transmitted information such as social security numbers, residence addresses, and credit card accounts numbers.
The SBDC also uses the information gathered on this website to help improve this website. For example, by tracking the number of website visitors, the date of visit, and the pages visited, SBDC can balance resources so the maximum number of visitors can obtain needed information. Additionally, by tracking what visitor software is being used (e.g. browser) the SBDC can avoid using features that visitors can not view or use.

Any information acquired by the Department of Motor Vehicles, including information collected electronically on this web site, is subject to the limitations set forth in the Information Practices Act of 1977 (beginning with Section 1798 of the Civil Code). Electronically collected personal information is exempt from requests made pursuant to the California Public Records Act (beginning with Section 6250 of the Government Code).
What is the security requirement for the browser?
The SBDC website has security measures in place to protect against loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under our control. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protects the message transmissions using encryption. SSL works with your browser and the receiving Internet site to scramble the message while it is transported through the Internet. For transactions requiring payment and/or confidential information, we recommend using the 128 bit encryption standard SSL to protect the confidentiality of your information. However, 40 bit encryption is also supported.
